Your stinking, aging, creaking site needed to be redesigned. You talked to some people you know. Laughed when your ad agency said they could take care of it for you. Sent out the RFP to likely suspects and a few "wild cards". They all came back with blah, blah and you decided for whatever reason to go with "Webs R Us".
FF 2 years; during which you've endured a curious sort of confusing pain and many sleepless nights. It's a damn website!!! It can be changed. Just get it up! Battles between departments were waged with no words ever spoken. Oh, is it now only marketing??? because when we did the first one in '95 it was a library and a place for information.
In celebration, you're planning a trip to Bali to lounge in the tropical drinks and sip the sun. Website, schmebsite. No more . . . it's live!!
Nowhere in the RFP response or in the normal course of communications with Webs R Us was there ever a discussion of the ANALYTICS. If you spent $xMM to open a "brick and mortar", when it opened, you'd be damn sure to be asking a few people why they were leaving without buying, No?
What are your sites Key Performance Indicators? How does the new site compare in those factors to the old? Oh, you never measured anything before. Start Today!! Where are users cutting bait and running? On and on.
Sorry, but this just seems to be a reoccurring topic in recent conversations
